A Dream Garden Built From the Ground Up in Howth
When a new homeowner moved to Howth, bringing with him big ideas and a large, unfinished garden, he knew exactly who to call. After discovering Peninsula Stone on Instagram and recognising the vans from around town, he reached out through the website to book a design consultation - and that’s where this dream garden journey began.
From Bare Plot to Beautifully Designed Spaces
Originally handed over by the builder in a rough and uninspiring condition, the garden offered a huge canvas for creativity. The client had a clear vision: a multi-functional outdoor space with distinct areas for entertaining, relaxing, playing, and planting—each catching the sun at different times of day. With a love of greenery and structure, he wanted a space that was practical, elegant, and full of life.
After an initial consultation, the homeowner selected a full design package covering the front and back gardens. We then arranged a full site visit to walk the property, take measurements, and get a deeper understanding of his aspirations. A topographical survey followed to capture the precise shape, elevation, and layout of the land—an essential step for such a large and varied site.

Design-Led, Detail-Focused
From there, we began work on a 2D architect-style plan, followed by 3D renders to bring the vision to life. The client collaborated closely with us throughout the process, offering suggestions and tweaks that helped shape the final design. Once he saw the renderings, he was thrilled—and we were able to price the project accurately, right down to the final detail.
The build was scheduled and kicked off in early March, running for approximately three months, with only minor delays due to weather. The scope of the project was significant, including:
Porcelain and granite paving
Composite decking
Bullnose granite steps and wall cappings
Fencing and cladding
Steel features and olive trees
Extensive lighting plan for night-time ambiance
Outdoor kitchen and Jacuzzi area
Children’s play zone
Lush planting throughout, with raised beds and layered textures
Pebbled walkways and seating zones to follow the sun throughout the day
